As the commander-in-chief of the Roman army, Caesar Augustus carries a consular baton while proclaiming triumph to his troops. Sculpted in bonded natural marble to portray Augustus as a worthy leader, the unknown artist depicted him barefoot (for honesty) and with Cupid by his side (for pureness of heart). Our scaled replica is sculpted in painstaking detail from the museum original, which was discovered on April 20, 1863 in the villa of Liva at Prima Porta, near Rome. 5½"x5"D x 11½"H 2 lbs.
