Many wall mounted sinks don’t offer any counter space at all, which is probably their biggest drawback – after all, even the neat-and-tidiest among us usually leave out our toothbrush, toothpaste, and a bar or bottle of soap. I’ve talked a bit about the utility of installing wall mounted sinks<\/a> into very small bathrooms, like guest bathrooms, powder rooms, or water closets, but they can also work very well in a larger bathroom or even a master bathroom as well. Which brings me to my third point: don’t think of wall mounted sinks as just<\/em> sinks. This Ceramica II<\/a> from Caracalla<\/a> is about as complete as bathroom fixtures come. Like the Wish sink, it has a built in countertop, and like the Traccia, it has built in towel bars, allowing you to use your wall mounted sink exactly the same way you would a bathroom vanity, but with a much more visually interesting style.<\/p>\n

For me, though, the most exciting thing about wall mounted sinks is how well they play into the modern aesthetic of asymmetrically balancing horizontal lines. Most often you see this in the use of straight, flat, wall-mounted shelves of different lengths that are designed to look like they’re floating, gravity free on your wall. It’s sort of the pinnacle of minimalist design, and many wall mounted bathroom sinks do the same thing for the bathroom. In profile and straight on, this Mars<\/a> wall mounted sink from Ceramica Tecla<\/a> is perfectly flat, and when balanced with something like the solid chest shown above, or matching shelves (look for ones where the mounts won’t show for the full effect), you get a lovely, staggered design that can give your bathroom an artful sense of asymmetry (as well as a little extra storage!).<\/p>\n
