Whether you like it or not, you’re going to spend a good chunk of your life in your bathroom<\/a>. For most of us, we don’t think too hard about it, except to usually complain that there’s not enough space. Is there though? A great way to de-clutter your bathroom and maximize its potential is to go modern, a style all about simplicity and efficiency. Living in the future is great. Modern toilets<\/a> can have heated seats and dual flush systems to avoid wasting water, which is great for cutting down on the overall heating and water bills (imagine not having turn a space heater on in the winter just so you don’t freeze on the porcelain!) The tanks on modern toilets are either recessed partially into the wall or compact and motor rather than gravity driven, which means they take up less space and leave only the toilet bowl to view and use. For wall mounted toilets,\u00a0a panel is typically cut into the bathroom wall to allow easy access to the tank should the need arise. In a way, you just turned that part of the wall into a water<\/em> closet.<\/p>\n

Let’s talk bathing. A modern shower is not only a matter of ditching the plastic curtain for a full shower enclosure to minimize steam loss, but also one of taking a hard look at your shower head. If you live in an area that has hard water, the shower head will eventually get clogged and become less effective over time. Check the head every six months or annually, and replace when you notice that the individual spouts aren’t pouring water. For all around body coverage, jets can be put into the shower wall to maximize your showering surface area.<\/p>\n

But say if you want to take a bath, you’re going to need a tub. What’s more modern than a freestanding tub? It’s efficiency at its finest, with no surrounding hardware to take up space. In a large bathroom, you can add whatever table surfaces you would like next to it instead of having that wasted space covering the tub. While you don’t necessarily need the extra room in a larger bathroom, a freestanding tub will make it feel less cluttered and more manageable to clean.<\/p>\n

That said, one sink with a large counter isn’t always the ideal situation for a larger household. You know the saying, “Two sinks are better than one”? That’s not actually the saying, but two sinks are a lot better for multiple people sharing a bathroom. In a large space, the last thing you want is a shortage of the important hardware when it comes time to get ready in the morning. Instead of having to share a sink and mirror, consider a bathroom vanity that multiple sinks and add a mirror that matches the length of the counter. Most important of all, take measurements of your bathroom before you start renovating; figure out how space you have for hardware and furniture, and how much space that leaves you to maneuver in.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
