Last weekend I went to the Getty museum in Los Angeles and saw a doll of Andy Warhol in the gift shop. It would be so cool to decorate a bedroom or a living room with his artistic style in mind, and best of all place his adorable plush effigy on a funky corner chair.<\/p>\n

Andy Warhol's Marilyn<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

If you collect Warhol prints and other pop art, you might have a lot of fun revamping a room in a 1960s style. You could start collecting antique products from the 60s, like Kings candy cigarettes, early Playboy magazines, or even a record player.<\/p>\n

Coca Cola Depicted by Andy Warhol<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Andy Warhol would hope you’d keep a coca cola bottle here and there. My favorite quote of his is this, “What’s great about this country is that America started the tradition where the richest consumers buy essentially the same things as the poorest. You can be watching TV and see Coca-Cola, and you know that the President drinks Coca-Cola, Liz Taylor drinks Coca-Cola, and just think, you can drink Coca-Cola, too. A Coke is a Coke and no amount of money can get you a better coke than the one the bum on the corner is drinking. All the cokes are the same and all the cokes are good. Liz Taylor knows it, the President knows it, the bum knows it, and you know it.”<\/p>\n

Pop Art Living Room<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Items that achieve this look include bright unusual furniture and mercury balls, but the best way to get started is in experimenting with retro lighting.<\/p>\n

The vegas pendant would demonstrate how Warhol’s ideas inspired a lot of the style of the 70s. It’s the 60s love child of a disco ball and a flying saucer. The best way to create the Andy Warhol look is to use bold colors, such as fuchsia, turquoise, or orange. Use black and white to offset the copious amounts of color. Warhol loved using eye-grabbing colors in his work.<\/p>\n
